During the second lockdown we may have become all too familiar with the interiors of our homes and gardens. This week we will be focussing on noticing and observing what objects surround us, that may otherwise go unnoticed. We ask you choose a colour. Seek out 3- 6 objects ( or more if you can!) of this colour from your house and garden, if you have one and bring these to the group. We will be using these as a starting point!

Materials

Camera ( phone or digital)

Some paper (any size is fine) and a selection of art materials.

Some of you already have art packs from the previous series of groups. However, if you don’t have art materials, you can join with a pencil, some paper and household items such as food colouring, tea bags and coffee grounds. If you have time and the means to buy some art materials in advance, here is a basic list of materials that can be bought online or from high street stationers’: Watercolour paint set and paint brush, water soluble coloured pencils, graphite (normal) pencils and paper. You could add drawing ink and crayons or pastels (either chalk or oil) to extend your range.

Alternatively, we can loan you some materials from the art therapy room if you arrange this with us by the Monday before the group. Email us at: bartshealth.arttherapy@nhs.net

If you are unable to join the group, you can still collect and photograph your own colour collections. Make an arrangement of these on your kitchen table or desk and take a photograph. You can create a number of designs and can do this more than once using different colours. Play around with arranging them in different iterations and see what combinations you think are interesting.

Photographs included from previous blog post theme.
